“Doing your will, My God, is my joy; Your Torah is in my inmost being.” (Psalm 40:9)
Within this simple and straightforward verse is a profound truth that can easily be overlooked. Many believers do the will of God from a variety of ulterior motives such as fear of punishment, or for outward recognition and the applause of men.
Whether our primary motives are pure or not, one might still assert that it is better to do the will of God from questionable motives rather than not at all.
Yet, there is something in the above Scripture verse which captures our hearts and imaginations; we love to do the will of God, and consider it pure joy because He is our all in all. Anything less would be unthinkable! This is indeed a bridal trait.

Maybe, our service for the Lord is a mixture of joy and hesitancy; an outflow of love with a tinge of obligation? But, it really does not need to be that way. When we choose for God to reign within our innermost being instead of being a temporary resident, our lives became transformed from the mundane to the supernatural. But far better than even this, is the inexpressible privilege and honour to abide in His love and abundant provision within every situation and circumstance, irrespective of the occasion, time of day, where we may be, or who we are surrounded by.
His abiding presence is our sufficiency, when the Word made flesh dwells in our inmost being.
