MONTH OF CHESHVAN – 8th MONTH
Cheshvan is usually a quiet period following the previous month although looking around us with events surrounding the Middle East and with the US elections looming and with the gathering darkness in these end times impacting society, things are far from being quiet as we see things unfolding prophetically on a day-to-day basis!
For Israeli farmers, Cheshvan is a month when in biblical times they were fully dependent upon God for rain for their crops. And from a spiritual perspective, this is equally true regarding Israel’s current military situation. Even as the physical has a parallel in the spiritual realm, Israel is being faced with the growing reality that only God can deliver them from destruction. And in this respect we have heard of countless miracles where God continues to be their sovereign protector against their enemies. Here is a testimony from just one messianic believer among many:
“We began our reserve duty with what’s called a ‘defensive operation’ in the Galilee Panhandle with Metula as its most Northern point. Knowing that thousands of Hezbollah fighters faced us from South-Lebanon (all around the Galilee Panhandle) and fired anti-tank missiles, explosive drones and mortar shells at us on a daily basis ever since October 8, 2023. We knew that Hezbollah’s final plan was to infiltrate the northern settlements in an ‘October 7-style’.
The first and most obvious miracle we encountered was that the enemy fled! There was no face-to-face contact at all. We found communications equipment, weapons and rockets, tunnels and many battle strongholds – but without an enemy. They just got up and ran away. Leaving everything – including their combat bags, weapons and equipment – behind.
Every day I was reminded of the story from 2 Kings 7, where we read how Samaria was under siege, and about the four lepers who went to Camp Aram. Miraculously, God made a noise, and Camp Aram simply got up and fled. Here too, the soldiers left all their equipment behind.
In a similar way, miraculously, the Hezbollah terrorists simply got up and left everything behind. As IDF soldiers, we reached the positions they left, which even including the coffee and food they left behind in their rush.
During the operation in Lebanon we encountered a number of miracles – which are undoubtedly an answer to prayer, including a roadside bomb that didn’t activate ‘only because’ the battery in its sensor simply ran out… There were all sorts of similar miracles. Without a doubt, the most obvious point is that provided the full protection for our entire unit — which truly is an answer to the heartfelt prayers of true believers from all over the world.”
Today – a year past the October 7-massacre – we’re in a completely different place! We’re dealing with a wide variety of threats aimed at the State of Israel; and miraculously, and clearly with God’s help, the State of Israel dismantles the threats that pose an existential threat to the State of Israel.
As a country we have discovered a rare type of patience and mutual care, a spirit of sacrifice and contribution.
Before our eyes, our Heavenly Father enables this great victory and the great achievement on the battlefield. As a reminder, we are battling at 7 arenas at the same time!! And with God’s help, we can withstand them, and achieve victory after victory. We’re left speechless with each and every victory, at the extremely powerful reaction by Israel to its enemies. Where does that power come from?
It’s indisputably a visible miracle that is performed before our very eyes. We acknowledge the strength of our heavenly Father, and give Him the glory! We’re truly dependent on Him.”
The month of Cheshvan and rain are inseparable. We must pray for God’s Spirit to rain down to form rivers of Living Water that will refresh and encourage Israel and supernaturally soften their hearts so they will recognise the One who is their Messiah that in the fullness of time all Israel will be saved!
