Weekly Devotion 241 – BLESS THE LORD!

“The blessing of the Lord is what makes someone rich, (not the size of our pay cheque or worldly possessions) and He doesn’t add sorrow to it.” Prov. 10:22

No matter what circumstances we may face at any given moment, we have the capacity to rejoice in God’s manifold blessings (Ps.103:1). This places everything else in our lives in context and is wonderful to behold. And whilst His desire is to bless us, our great privilege is the capacity to bless Him! What does that mean? For this we need to examine the ancient Hebrew word for “to bless” which literally means, ‘to kneel.’ When we bless Him we are symbolically bringing a gift to Him on bended knee. It goes beyond a vocal expression to a conscious surrendering of our lives unconditionally to Him.

Yeshua said: “He who wishes to be the greatest amongst you should be the servant of all” and He demonstrated this perfectly throughout His earthly ministry at every point and turn. Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of God? Those who approach others on bended knee in the footsteps of the Master, an outflow of first love, the well-spring that nourishes our walk with God.

I invite you today to take what God has blessed you with in both hands and release it as a sweet smelling scent with joy and thankfulness. It will transform your life and many others too.

Here is my prayer for you today:

“Father, out of Your honourable and glorious riches, strengthen Your people. Fill their souls with the power of Your Spirit so that through faith Yeshua will reside in their hearts. May love be the rich soil where their lives take root. May it be the bedrock where their lives are founded so that together with all of Your people they will have the power to understand that the love of God is infinitely long, wide, high, and deep, surpassing everything anyone previously experienced. May Your fullness flood through their entire beings.

Now unto Him who can do so many awe-inspiring things, immeasurable things, things greater than we ever could ask or imagine through the power at work in us, to Him be all glory and in Yeshua the Anointed from this generation to the next, forever and ever. Amen.” (Eph 3: 15-21)
