IT’S JUST NOT FAIR!
“The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and bring me safely into His heavenly Kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever.” (2 Timothy 4:18) We have countless promises and examples from Scripture how God is faithful to rescue His children from every expression of evil. People who try to explain it away often miss.a key point. God never promised to shield us from evil but to give us victory in the midst of it. Many are the people who have given powerful testimony of this such as Corrie Ten Boom who was thrown into a concentration camp experiencing starvation, thirst, nakedness, beatings and death of family members all for hiding Jews in their Haarlem home during the Holocaust.
One day soon after her sister had died in the concentration camp, Corrie was standing outside in a line for roll-call. It was brutally cold weather and the women stamped their feet in an attempt to keep warm. Suddenly Corrie heard her name:
“Prisoner ten Boom, report after roll-call.”
All sorts of thoughts passed through her mind. Was she going to be punished, shot or may be placed in the gas chambers?
“Father in heaven, please help me now,” she prayed.
When she reported, she was given a card stamped “Entlassen”, (“Released”). God had performed a miracle and she was free! She was given back her few possessions, some new clothes and a railway pass back to Holland.
Afterwards, she learned that she had been released by mistake through a clerical error, something unheard of within German bureaucracy. A week after her release all the women of her age in the camp were killed.
Since then, God used her powerful testimony about her experiences in Ravensbruk concentration camp to share and encourage people throughout the world.in over sixty countries.
Life is a level playing field where the rain falls both on the just and unjust (Matthew 5:45). The same is true for the negative things of life that hit us and are keenly felt that may appear completely unfair and arbitrary. How can we answer the dilemmas faced by those who have suffered greatly as innocent victims of evil? Outside of God, it is well-nigh impossible, but people like Corrie ten Boom are a shining beacon for us of the power of God to transform even the worst of situations for good unto His glory!
God never promises to shield us from evil but provides us with the means to triumph over its destructive grip. Every negative experience can be redeemed when we allow the Master craftsman to take control even as we can see from testimonies from people like Corrie Ten Boom.
I am so happy that in life, God always has the last word no matter how hard things may appear, when we place our full trust in His unfailing love.
