Weekly Devotion Week 41 2017

“For He will conceal me in His shelter on the day of trouble. He will hide me in the folds of His tent. He will set me high on a rock. Then my head will be lifted up above my surrounding foes and I will offer in His tent, sacrifices with shouts of joy!” (Psalm 27:5-6)

There is no lack of trouble that encompass God’s people as the powers of darkness gather to contend against every form of godliness. But, God has promised to ‘hide us in the folds of His tent.’ This does not mean that we are passive but rather that
we place ourselves under the full protection and covering of Almighty God!

Being ‘concealed in the folds of His tent’ is a good place to be. It is there that He not only provides us with a safe space but also a clear direction because our feet are set on a ‘high Rock’ (i.e., on the shoulders of Messiah Jesus) our firm foundation who guides us in His way (a lamp to our feet a light to our path Psalm 119:105).

As in Isaiah 40, we actively wait upon (rest in) the Lord and He renews our strength like that of an eagle. We run and are not weary; walk and do not faint. God provides us with grace and wisdom to plunder the enemy camp because we are guided by
Him in obedience to His perfect will rather than by our own imperfections and ‘good’ ideas.

And so, we stand strong in the Lord and the power of His might. We lift up our heads and refuse all discouragement, with our eyes firmly placed on the King of Kings. We offer unto Him our sacrifice of praise with shouts of joy for the victory that
we have as ‘more than conquerors’ through Him who loves us! (Romans 8:37) We shall see the surrounding foe in great disarray and disperse in a blind panic for we overcome through the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony! We
do not love our lives even unto death. Our position is clear and our gait is set. Our future is secure and our victory guaranteed!
