“Be still and learn that I am God, supreme over the nations, supreme over the earth.” (Psalm 46:11)

I wonder how much clutter we have in our lives which hinder us from drawing close to God? There are potentially so many obstructions that vie for our attention. Some are, in themselves, legitimate that we can get caught up within the day-to-day
busyness of life. Other things, like spiritual scams, lead to a dead-end because they are essentially self-centred which play upon the hearts of me-myself-and I.

To prioritise things rightly can be challenging whether they appear great or trivial, continuous in nature or exceptional, life changing or mundane; wise decisions can

make a significant difference for good.

In all of this, the Psalmist discovered something of immense value: “Be still and learn that I am God, supreme over the nations, supreme over the earth.”

Placing God in the centre of our lives at all times, not just in an emergency, is a great investment; for Him to rule and reign without pre-conditions or the small print, is of immense gain.

To be ‘still’ is active rather than passive, and is characterised by someone with the courage, patience and confidence to rest all their affairs into the hands of the Divine ‘I AM.’ What better thing than this at the commencement of each new moment!
